In March 2024, Cognition Labs gave an AI a GitHub issue. The AI fixed the bug, ran the tests, and opened a pull request. No human touched the keyboard.

The AI was called Devin. A YC startup CEO gave it a bug report. Devin read the error log, traced the problem to a database migration, wrote the fix, tested it, and submitted the PR. Fifteen minutes, start to finish.
